Legacy Standard Bible (LSB)

The Legacy Standard Bible (LSB) is a recent translation that builds upon the respected New American Standard Bible (NASB), carrying forward its commitment to word-for-word accuracy while introducing even greater precision and consistency.  First published in 2021 by The Lockman Foundation in partnership with The Master’s Seminary and The Master’s University, the LSB was created to preserve the accuracy of the NASB while refining key details to more closely reflect the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts.

One of the most distinctive features of the LSB is its restoration of the divine name “Yahweh” in the Old Testament, where most English Bibles use the term “LORD”.  It also carefully maintains the literal renderings of verbs, tenses, and idioms, helping readers see Scripture with greater linguistic and theological clarity.

The result is a translation that fees both familiar and refreshed – faithful to the NASB legacy yet honed for today’s serious Bible readers, pastors, and students who value depth and precision in God’s Word.
